Just for Kids

Some kids in our community don’t have enough to eat every day but YOU can help! We love to involve young adults and kids in the fight against hunger and there are many activities that can be done at school or home! These self-guided activities are perfect for kids and families who want to help fight hunger in their communities.

Lunches with Love

The children, families, and individuals we serve benefit greatly from ready-to-grab lunch bags with a variety of food choices. The instructions will guide you through how to decorate, assemble, and deliver pre-packed lunch bags for Food Gatherers to distribute. Whether you assemble 5 bags or 50, Lunches with Love is a helpful resource for our partner food pantries.

Junior Rescue Ranger Program

Our Junior Rescue Ranger (JRR) program is a great way for kids to learn about hunger and take action to make a difference. The packet contains activities in three areas — Learn, Gather, and Give — providing age-appropriate opportunities to explore and reflect on hunger in our community.  When kids have completed the activities they can make an appointment to visit the Food Gatherers warehouse for a tour and to receive a Junior Rescue Ranger badge and certificate of completion. To get started now download the JRR packet here.  Please email or call with questions (info@foodgatherers.org or 734-761-2796).

Family Days

On Family Days, children as young as 5 can volunteer at the warehouse with their families. Generally, we host at least one Family Day a month.

Children 8+ can volunteer at our warehouse at any time.
